Belatedly, T is for therapy

The Knit, the Geek and the Therapy
I'm not very good at this regular blogging business, right? I'm trying to catch up on the abc-along, and then hopefully there will be some real posts. I haven't done a lot of knitting lately, mainly reading (and then repairing my computer when it crashed and needed a completely brain wipe, then a new graphics card), but I'm back on track.

The reports of my demise have been greatly exaggerated, but only by a bit :)
I've been down for the last two weeks with the eeeeebil cold from hell, so everything has been very quiet. It[s not been swine flu at least, and it's not gone down to my lungs. I am nearly cleared from it now, just in time to go back to work tomorrow...
I had intended to skip Q in the abc-along, but then dinner yesterday came to my rescue, and I finally have the energy to write something coherent, take pictures and prepare them, even if it's a bit late. Mmmm, food. So there is another recipe for you. I have a feeling S will be another recipe, so stay tuned!

A "P meal" is what Alex and I have when we are tired and don't want to bother with dinner.
1. Get some pasta

This is less of a pretty post, but N is for Nails, because they are something important to me, even if a bit embarrassing. I have bitten them since I am very small, and even when I'm not biting them, I keep obsessing about them, looking at them and prodding them. Most of the time I don't even realise I'm doing it.

I was in a small London zoo a couple of weeks ago, and saw animals. The cutest animals also happened to start with M, so I squeed and took pictures and behaved like I was 20 years younger, while Alex put up with me :)
There were Monkeys!

Sun light reflected on the curtains, on the skirt that is waiting to be fixed.

Because it is my first go at the ABC-along, I figured is was game to do K for knitting. Next year I will actually have to think (kilo? kansas? potassium?).
I learned to knit about 2 and a half years ago. "Hang on", I hear you say, "I remember that number! It's exactly how long you were on your meds!"
It was indeed. I had thought about taking up knitting before, because I needed a hobby and Alex wanted a particular scarf, but it was only in the beginning of the Big Breakdown that I, surprisingly, got needles, yarn and instructions all together, and started. That time is all a blur now, and I am not sure how I managed such feat of organisation, or if I got everything just before the Big Breakdown. My journals from the time don't give any clue.
From that, my first real Knitted item was, as promised, Alex's Ravenclaw scarf1. It was a long and hard time for him too, and I hope the scarf showed something. I finished just in time to be one of his Christmas presents.

J is for Jaime, my little brother.
By little, of course, I mean that he was born several years after me, as he is now a good foot taller than I am. I still weigh more than him, though, as he is closely related to spaghetti, so good old inertia is still on my side if we wrestle.
My much awaited little brother was born when I was nearly 8. I had wanted a little sibling for years, as most of my friends had some, but that was when it suited my parents best. There were, of course, times when I really hated ever wishing one, as everything was centred about him!
Here is my little brother when he was exactly one month old. Only one month to the day, don't get distracted by the hair. We were both born with that much hair, and it didn't fall off, not a single one of them. We have always been weird.

Is it cheating? Probably. Am I going to be defeated by a letter? Hell no!

Two by two, hands of blue.

G is for Garlic. I love garlic. Very conveniently, Alex also loves garlic, so this is not a problem (the key issue that we both like garlic to the same extent, which is a lot). Most of the time when we cook and we have to halve a recipe, we just simply won't have the garlic.
As mentioned, I made garlic bread some days ago, using BitterSweet's recipe. It involves 2 heads of garlic, so you really must love it. I must confess that it didn't taste as garlicky as previously advertised when I first eat it, but that was because I had been surrounded by the smell of garlic for the previous 2-3 hours, so I was somewhat accustomed to it. It tasted deliciously garlicky this afternoon when I had it as my post-work snack.
I am posting this picture in the hopes that the smell will permeate from the computer onto you, and hope that you too love garlic!

So, a while ago I broke my foot. It was a clean, not displaced break (5th metatarsus) and, although it was still a bummer, because I had a broken bone. Estimated healing time: 4-6 weeks.
4 months later, foot is still partially fractured. I can walk on it: barefoot at home (carefully), with my boot and one crutch outside. The bone has healed half-way through, but not completely, so it still won't take full weight without some pain.
This is my usual work do:
